In order to be eligible for this position, candidates should be a citizen of a member state of the European Union or of the European Free Trade Association; hold a master’s degree or a recognized equivalent thereof.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to conduct doctoral research in the arts, in collaboration with Ghent University, for at least 70% of the full-time appointment; to assist in activities of educational support and student guidance within the relevant field at KASK & Conservatorium/HOGENT, for no more than 30% of the full-time appointment.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS: you actively work on developing a personal artistic body of work that meets international standards; you have the skills required to successfully complete a long-term research project; you have pedagogic and didactic skills, demonstrable competency relevant for higher education; you have an active command of English and you communicate fluently in Dutch or are willing to gain the required certificate (B2 Dutch) within five years of the start of your appointment.

Initial appointment will commence no sooner than 1 October 2022 and is for a period of two years, with the possibility of two two-year extensions of the contract upon positive evaluation.

Remuneration according to wage scale 508.

A first selection will be made on the basis of artistic portfolio and research abstract, considering criteria of artistic quality, research potential, and complementarity with the profiles of the school of arts and its programmes and departments. Candidates selected for the second round will be appointed a (provisional) supervisor at KASK & Conservatorium in the course of December 2021.
