LABS Contemporary Art è lieta di presentare “Burning Land”, mostra bi-personale di Alessio Barchitta e Marius Steiger a cura di Domenico de Chirico.
Burning Land è una mostra che ha come intento quello di indagare la materia, in termini sia realistici sia metaforici, in tutto il suo potenziale espressivo e d’ispirazione. Partendo dal concetto di sostanza, mediante un’indagine attenta e completa sull’essenza della natura organica, entrambi gli artisti concentrano la loro attenzione, seppur in maniera diversificata, su tutto ciò che è destinato a mutare nel corso del tempo.
Alessio Barchitta è un giovane artista italiano che attualmente vive e lavora tra Milano e Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. La scelta dei materiali costituisce indissolubilmente una parte fondamentale della sua ricerca che si presenta sempre eterogenea e complessa. Dal suo punto di vista, laddove la materia manca di peculiarità, subentra prontamente l’estetica a connotare il soggetto. Partendo da uno stadio ideale e dogmatico di neutralità, Barchitta indaga i binomi, tra gli altri, di ob-iectum e sub-iectum, significato e significante, pubblico e privato, confortevole e desolante, indocile e asservito, ironico e tragico, persistente e transitorio.
Marius Steiger è un giovane artista svizzero che attualmente vive e lavora tra Basilea e Berna. Steiger lavora principalmente con la pittura e gli oggetti creando opere ossimoriche che combinano narrazioni reali e finzione in un linguaggio visivo austero ma romantico. Inoltre, Steiger esplora le questioni contrapposte di autenticità e artificialità e del rapporto che intercorre tra gli esseri umani e la tecnologia moderna.

Burning Land is an exhibition that aims to investigate matter, in both realistic and metaphorical terms, in all its expressive and inspirational potential. Starting from the concept of substance, through a careful and complete investigation of the essence of organic nature, both artists focus their attention, albeit in a diversified way, on everything that is destined to change over time.
Alessio Barchitta is a young Italian artist who currently lives and works between Milan and Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. The choice of materials is indissolubly a fundamental part of his research which is always heterogeneous and complex. From his point of view, where the material lacks peculiarities, aesthetics quickly take over to connote the subject. Starting from an ideal and dogmatic stage of neutrality, Barchitta investigates the binomials, among others, of ob-iectum and sub-iectum, meaning and signifier, public and private, comfortable and desolating, indocile and enslaved, ironic and tragic, persistent and transient.
Marius Steiger is a young Swiss artist who currently lives and works between Basel and Bern. Steiger works primarily with painting and objects creating works that combine real narratives and fiction in an austere yet romantic visual language. Steiger explores the issues of authenticity, artificiality and the relationship of human beings to modern technology.
