Beatrice Tabacchi. Prehensile
Martedì 19 marzo Richter Fine Art inaugura la prima personale in galleria di Beatrice Tabacchi, dal titolo Prehensile, in mostra fino al 10 maggio 2024.
“Il titolo della mostra si ispira al concetto evolutivo di prensilità – l’artista afferma – la qualità di un’appendice o di un organo che, per garantire la sua sopravvivenza, si adatta all’ambiente e muta per afferrare o trattenere, come una mano o una coda. La connessione e la presa portano con sé varie possibilità di risignificazione e di evoluzione. Le composizioni in questi nuovi lavori vengono ritrovate nella trasversalità degli stati embrionali e metamorfici; legati all’archetipo dell’iniziazione come qualcosa di prensile.”
Giulia Gaibisso scrive nel suo testo critico: “[…] Nei lavori presentati alla galleria Richter Beatrice Tabacchi dà corpo a una serie di riflessioni, maturate in ambito pittorico, che paiono corrispondere a intuizioni di carattere esistenziale. La sperimentazione tecnica e cromatica posta alla base della nuova produzione rivela in effetti un’urgenza: quella di elaborare la complessità dei meccanismi che regolano l’universo e i fenomeni psichici cercando non tanto di comprenderli quanto piuttosto di assecondarne il flusso.”
Beatrice Tabacchi è un’artista italo-americana nata nel 1997 a Palombara Sabina. Ha frequentato la Bard College di Annandale-on-Hudson, New York dal 2015 al 2019 e in precedenza ha vissuto a Chicago, Illinois. Tabacchi vive attualmente a Roma. La sua seconda personale Prehensile inaugura con la galleria Richter Fine Arts il 19 marzo 2024. On Tuesday, March 19th Richter Fine Art presents Beatrice Tabacchi’s first solo show with the gallery, titled Prehensile. The show will be on view through May 10th 2024.
“The exhibition’s title is inspired by the evolutionary concept of prehensility – the artist states – the quality of an appendix or an organ that, to ensure its survival, adapts to the environment and changes to grasp or hold, as a hand or a tail. Connection and grip bring with them various possibilities for new signification and evolution. In these works, the compositions are found in the transversality of embryonic and metamorphic states. Something prehensile is linked to the archetype of initiation.”
Giulia Gaibisso writes in the accompanying critical text, “In the works presented by Beatrice Tabacchi at the Richter gallery, the artist gives shape to a series of reflections, developed in the pictorial field, which seemingly correspond to insights of an existential nature. The technical and chromatic experimentation underlying this new production indeed reveals an urgency: that of processing the complexity of mechanisms that regulate the universe and psychic phenomena, trying not to capture them but to support their flow.”
Beatrice Tabacchi is an Italian-American artist born in 1997 in Palombara Sabina. She attended Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York from 2015 to 2019 and previously lived in Chicago, Illinois. Tabacchi currently lives and works in Rome. Her second solo exhibition Prehensile opens on March 19, 2024 with Richter Fine Arts.
