Mercoledì 15 novembre 2023 la Fondazione Pastificio Cerere e il Centrul de Interes (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) presentano la collettiva Perspectiva Cluj. Traiettorie dinamiche dal Centrul de Interes a cura di Gaia Bobò e Marcello Smarrelli, realizzata con il supporto della Fondazione Culturale Intact. La mostra sarà aperta al pubblico da giovedì 16 novembre 2023 a sabato 27 gennaio 2024.
Il percorso espositivo presenta una selezione di opere, alcune delle quali appositamente prodotte per gli spazi della Fondazione, realizzate da Radu Abraham & Ovidiu Leuce, Delia Avram, Sasha Bandi, Mathias Bar, Andrei Budescu, Ana Horhat & Vlad Sulea e Florin Ștefan. La mostra è il risultato della ricerca condotta dai due curatori durante la residenza svolta a Cluj-Napoca a luglio del 2023, nel corso della quale hanno avuto la possibilità di incontrare artiste/i, architette/i e designer collegati a vario titolo al Centrul de Interes, un polo culturale polifunzionale da anni estremamente attivo nella scena di Cluj, cittadina divenuta particolarmente nota per la Scuola di Pittura, interna all’ Accademia di Belle Arti, in cui si sono formati artisti del calibro di Victor Man e Adrian Ghenie.
Caratterizzato da un taglio interdisciplinare, il progetto è mirato a restituire diverse possibili visioni della città di Cluj-Napoca e della sua variegata e sorprendente produzione artistica che la rende una realtà di grande rilievo nel panorama culturale europeo. Ne emerge un percorso intergenerazionale, particolarmente incentrato sulla pittura, attraverso il confronto tra i lavori di Delia Avram (1980), Mathias Bar (1997), Sasha Bandi (1989) e Florin Ștefan (1968) ma anche segnato dalla volontà di evidenziare un’attitudine collaborativa tra artisti, architetti paesaggisti e designer impegnati a vario titolo nella definizione di progettualità e prospettive future. È il caso della collaborazione tra lo scultore Ovidiu Leuce (1981) e il designer Radu Abraham (1989), o ancora tra l’architetta paesaggista Ana Horhat (1980) e il graphic designer Vlad Sulea (1980).
La risonanza tra la storia e le attività della Fondazione Pastificio Cerere e quelle del Centrul de Interes, nonché il loro ruolo nella produzione e promozione della scena culturale del territorio, costituisce un’occasione di riflessione sui centri di produzione artistica considerati “punti panoramici” privilegiati per l’osservazione della città come ecosistemi in evoluzione. Allo stesso tempo, questa esperienza si pone quale passaggio iniziale di un processo volto a favorire lo scambio e la reciproca conoscenza delle scene artistiche delle città di Roma e Cluj-Napoca.
Inoltre, nel 2024 è prevista la pubblicazione di un volume che approfondirà i punti di intersezione della progettazione dei due centri culturali, in particolare con un focus analitico sulle ricerche delle artiste e degli artisti del Centrul de Interes.
On Wednesday 15 November 2023, Fondazione Pastificio Cerere and Centrul de Interes (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) will present the group show Perspectiva Cluj. Dynamic trajectories from Centrul de Interes, as curated by Gaia Bobò and Marcello Smarrelli and organised with the support of Fondazione Culturale Intact. The exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday 16 November 2023 to Saturday 27 January 2024
The exhibition itinerary will feature a selection of works, some of them specially produced for the Foundation’s spaces, by Radu Abraham & Ovidiu Leuce, Delia Avram, Sasha Bandi, Mathias Bar, Andrei Budescu, Ana Horhat & Vlad Sulea and Florin Ștefan. The exhibition is the result of research carried out by the two curators during their residency in Cluj-Napoca in July 2023, during which they had the opportunity to meet artists, architects and designers variously linked to Centrul de Interes, a multifunctional cultural centre that has been extremely active in the Cluj scene for years; the town has become particularly famous for its School of Painting, which is part of the Academy of Fine Arts, where artists such as Victor Man and Adrian Ghenie have trained.
Characterised by an interdisciplinary slant, the project is aimed at rendering different possible visions of the city of Cluj-Napoca and its varied and surprising artistic production, which makes it a highly significant entity on the European cultural scene. What emerges is an intergenerational journey, particularly focused on painting, through the comparison of the works of Delia Avram (1980), Mathias Bar (1997), Sasha Bandi (1989), Florin Ștefan (1968) but also marked by the desire to highlight a collaborative attitude between artists, landscape architects and designers engaged in various ways in the definition of projects and future prospects. This is the case of the collaboration between sculptor Ovidiu Leuce (1981) and designer Radu Abraham (1989), or between landscape architect Ana Horhat (1980) and graphic designer Vlad Sulea (1980).
The resonance between the history and activities of Fondazione Pastificio Cerere and those of Centrul de Interes, as well as their role in the production and promotion of the local area’s cultural scene, constitutes an opportunity to reflect on the centres of artistic production as privileged ‘vantage points’ for observing the city as an evolving ecosystem. At the same time, this experience stands as an initial step in a process aimed at fostering the exchange and mutual knowledge of the artistic scenes of the cities of Rome and Cluj-Napoca.
In addition, a volume is planned to be published in 2024 which will explore the points of intersection of the design of the two cultural centres, with a particular analytical focus on the research of the artists of Centrul de Interes.
